Post articles Interesting articles and statements you receive through e-mail or from other non-profit sites can be reposted on the imc-qc. * Click 'Publish' * Enter article information, including title, categories, and summary as required fields. The summary can be the lead or a key sentence of the article. It will be visible in the newswire. * Paste the text in the box. * Click 'publish' * You can use the same form to upload mediafiles, including pictures, sound files and video. You can leave the box for text empty and select the number of files you want to upload. After that, you will be able to upload them easily from your computer. * To make an article more attractive, you can use html tags like , , tables, etc. Every paragraph will have to start with

or
if you use html. Select text/html under the text box. * You get a nice effect if you upload 1 small picture with your article. It will appear between the summary and the start of the article. 3. Editing and hiding posts Introduction: According to imc-qc's editorial policy: The imc-qc is an non-profit, open-publishing center for news, analysis, features, and commentaries pertaining to Filipino experience and participation in the struggle against imperialist globalization, military intervention, and wars of aggression and for sovereignty and social justice. It shall especially give prominence to angles either missed or deliberately left out by mainstream media. Anyone is free to post material that meets the editorial criteria of imc-qc. As much as we value contributions, however, content might be edited by imc-qc. Much of the day-to-day administration of the site will therefore consist of monitoring and editing posts and comments Step 1: Monitoring posts and comments Check the site regularly to monitor new posts and comments. * Click 'latest news' in the upper left corner of the frontpage to see the list of most recent articles. (Or monitor the newswire on the right side.) * Click 'latest comments' at the bottom of the newswire to see the list of most recent comments. * Check if the posts and comments meet the criteria for hiding: o Discrimination : posts using language, imagery, or other forms of communication promoting racism, fascism, xenophobia, elitism, sexism or any other form of discrimination. o Repeated : content that is reposted or text that was originally a comment posted as a report. o Advertising : posts with personal or product promotions. o Disruptive : spam attacks and other posts that seem to be intended to disrupt the site; including contributions that are devoid of meaningful information and comments that are unrelated to published articles. o Copyrighted : reposts from commercial media. o Inappropriate : posts that do not meet the principles of unity of imc-qc. o Libelous : maligning a person or group. * Take note of the ID numbers of posts you have to hide or edit. (The number at the end of the URL). Step 2: Edit posts * Log in the admin interface (http://qc.indymedia.org/admin/) with your login and password. * Click 'Articles' in the left-hand menu. * Type the ID number of the article in the input box and click 'submit' OR look for the article in the list (using the search form) and click 'edit'. * You will see the article in edit format. The form fields are exactly the same as the ones in the article publish form. The only critical differences are: the dropdown menu that let you choose if an article has to be a comment or an article, the parent_id field and a series of checkboxes that will let you choose multiple categories for the article. These are used to carry out the operation explained in the next paragraphs. * To make an article a comment and vice versa you have to change two fields: Article Type (a dropdown menu that can be set to "article", "attachment" or "comment"); and Parent ID (0 for articles, and the article ID to which you want to refer a comment for comments). * In the article edit form you can find an array of checkboxes, one for each category. An admin, differently from a normal user, can assign an article to multiple categories. * You can also edit the text of the article if necessary. Step 3: Hide posts * Log in the admin interface (http://qc.indymedia.org/admin/) with your login and password. * Click 'Articles' in the left-hand menu. * Type the ID number of the article in the input box and click 'submit' OR look for the article in the list (using the search form). * Change the 'display status' to 'hidden', select a reason for hiding and type your comment in the box. This will be sent to the imc-qc-editorial list to inform the editorial team that the status of an article was changed. Step 4: Hide comments * Log in the admin interface (http://qc.indymedia.org/admin/) with your login and password. * Click 'Articles' in the left-hand menu. * Type the ID number of the article the comment belongs to (the 'parent') in the input box and click 'submit' OR look for the article in the list (using the search form). * Change the 'display status' to 'hidden', select a reason for hiding and type your comments in the box. This will be sent to the imc-qc-editorial list to inform the editorial team that the status of an article was changed. More: * Don't forget to log out when you're done or someone else can access the admin interface using the same computer. * References: Sf-active documentation: http://sfa.indymedia.org/docs/en/index.html; particularly Admin use instructions: http://sfa.indymedia.org/docs/en/03_use_instructions/02_admin/index.html 1
