Web Processing Proposal

Overview:
  1. Segments are submitted online (ie, to Monty)
    • Someone could volunteer to receive tape, encode, and upload
  2. Server automatically compiles finished Newsreal
  3. Finished programs are available for download
    • Someone could volunteer to print tapes, ship

Advantages:

  • Much like the IMC Newswires, much faster than current system
  • Takes less volunteer time, more energy can be spent for outreach
  • Less dependency on FSTV editors, saves their time too
  • Allows more frequent Newsreals, screened when issues still fresh
  • Potential for translation and international segments/distro

Disadvantages:

  • Requires training, new software/plugins
  • Doesn't help those without net access
    • Would still need to mail physical tape submittions
    • Would still need to receive programs on tape via mail
    • May receive screening copies late, dep on schedual
