Introduction and Documentation for the Admin Interface of BioTech

Internal message board

use the nternal message board for comments, questions and remarks

Translations

To add translations from the admin interface: make a new article with "translation" as a file type, click on "insert" and then select the original article as "parent". Click save again to finish. For a detailed explanation about translations see BiotechTranslation

Re-generating the site

remember that the site will only be updated every so often, unless you click the "> generate all new" link

how-to-add event topics:

  • 2 things..
  • 1. you should enter a filename, it should not have spaces..., and be lowercase... like cancun or cancun2003 would be better...
  • 2. you should put "event" into the archive url field...
  • 3. you should go to the advanced producer page, and then click on navigation.generate and then on synchronization.run

how-to post an article from the admin interface

  • click on "new article"
  • file in the online-form and click on "insert"
  • turn the field "published" on
  • you can now also add images etc or attribute a translation to the original article (that's under parent/child)
  • click on "save"
  • the page is update every half hour, but you can also click on "generate all new" so that it will take place faster

Changing date and time of a posting

  • for all articles the date can be changed in the form: type the date in the edit field
  • especially older articles taken from other Indymedia sites should have real date, beacuse otherwise the chronology of the newswire doesn't really make sense
  • it's also possible to keep an article on top of the middle column by changing the date in this way.

Uploading images etc.

  • images etc can only be uploaded from the computer you are actually working on, not from another website
