Access to Indymedia Istanbul is banned!

"Independent Media Center - Istanbul (Indymedia Istanbul) has been initiated by a group of people in January 2003. In the mission statement of Indymedia Istanbul it is mentioned that "the mainstream and dominant media tools and/or the cartels provide false/incorrect or imperfect information/knowledge/data by distorting many realities according to the status quo which the sovereigns of the world and the countries are adherent.

This initiative aims to organize its own information network without disregarding the information resources both in Turkey and abroad, and to make its voice to be heard by the masses in Turkey and abroad -despite that the internet is still a media tool which has a limited access for many people.

The website has aimed and still working to be against the destructive effects of all mediatic distortions, and to convey the information according to formula of "what, why, how, where, when and by whom".

"Independent Media Center - Istanbul (Indymedia Istanbul) will be a medium for the people who cannot utter their voice through dominant media tools. For last five years Istanbul Indymedia has continued to work without compromising any of these principles. Now the access to the site has been banned.

Indymedia is being tried to be silenced by censorship. But only trying to be silenced. The prosecuters of Turkish Republic has not yet learn that the censorship in internet is technically impossible. Indymedia continues its broadcasting. You may access to Indymedia by various ways.
Some of them are:

You may apply 2nd and 3rd methods for all inaccessable/banned sites.

We are trying our best for making the access to http://istanbul.indymedia.org possible. Our broadcasting from http://istanbul.indymedia.org still continues. We can overcome this banning by announcing the access methods to the people who are trying to access from Turkey through Türk Telekom connections.

With solidarity.
