Just assembling some info for tour mainly to help those of use organising it. Thanks to IMC for hosting this wiki page. Some one from Argentina IMC was to be coming along with tour but no longer is. This wiki can be edited by anyone, but changes can be rolled back.
The Argentina Autonomista Project is coming to
the British Isles.
Neka of the unemployed workers of the Anibal Veron Co-ordination is
coming to share her experience of the vast movement of occupations and grass-roots organising and resistance that has swept Argentina over the past two years or more. Graciela a puppeteer will give a show (that has already toured the two Americas with great success) about local social movements and Argentina's insurrection.
Over the last year an incredible wave of social protest and action has engulfed Argentina. In the midst of a severe economic crisis there have been massive street protests, over 200 factory under workers control, more than three hundred coordinated microenterprise cooperatives organized by unemployed women and men, countless neighborhood associations formed, and many other autonomous popular initiatives. Yet, little is heard about this in the United States or in Europe.
The purpose of the Argentina autonomista project is to bring news about events in Argentina to North America and Europe, through
people-to-people exchanges and the internet (web and email) and to
facilitate non-hierarchical communication within Argentina, especially among groups with a minimum of resources.
Puppets show will give people a change to understand the situation in
Argentina where workers have gone from regular jobs to picking up cardboard from the streets of Buenos Aires every nite to sell it for a few cents. There will be much opportunity to participate for those that come along and it is hoped people will also be able to make connections between the situation in Argentina and
whats faced here. This will be an inspiring look at grassroots organisation that has sprung up in Argentinian.
The tour is timed to coincide with the first anniversary of the

Autonomista Tour!
Over the last year an incredible wave of social protest and action has engulfed Argentina. In the midst of a severe economic crisis people are improving their own lives without bosses and politicians: over 200 factories are under workers control, over 300 cooperatives have been formed by unemployed people, countless neighbourhood associations formed and many other autonomous popular initiatives. Two women from the Piquetera (Unemployed Worker Movement) along with a full length puppet show are touring the UK about these inspiring grassroots organisations for global economic justice and social change.

further notes for those hosting tour:

1. Transport
The tour will be transported by Steve and Clara (Generator x) to Brighton, possible Guilford, to Durham and Hebdon Bridge. This covers from 16th-23rd June.
Marcia, part of the Leeds organising group, will transport them for the rest of the tour. She'll pick them up in HB on the 26th.
2. Last tour date
The last tour date is Bristol on the 12th July. After that they might go for a week to Ireland, this is being discussed with Al from AF at the moment.
3. the show requirements + equipment needed
The puppet show fits mostly in any room.
there is a backdrop of 14,6 feet by 9 feet that can be made smaller (11 feet) if necessary. i need some space in front of it, approximately 8 feet. i do not require special lights, but the area where i perform should be lighted enough so that people can see it. if the backdrop cannot be stapled to the wall, i will need two volunteers to hold a backdrop throughout the show. the show lasts 45 minutes.
if folks have access to an lcd projector, i have a computer generated slide show with pixs of the argentine insurrection, piquetero microenterprises, children workshops in the piquetero neighborhood, repressions, etc..
note please give MGgracielam9 @ aol.com an idea in advance of set up time availiable ideally she would like 2 hours.
4. Pictures for publicity
I can send high resolution pixs of my puppet show if anybody things they could help with publicity. I can also send low resolution samples of the pixs or to be used in websites...
MGgracielam9 @ aol.com
5. Accomodation
When possible Graciela and neka would like to have a room each - cos it's going to be tiresom to travel around and they need a good night sleep.
it's ok if they don't stay in the same house.
6. Food
Graciela cannot eat wheat, beans, tofu, nor dairy.
They are not vegetarians.
Please remember to feed them - cos they would have travelled far to get to you and most probably be hungry!
7. phone contact with the tour
The tour has a mobile.
8. translation
Neka doesn't speak English, so it would be good to have a translator because otherwise Graciela will be doing a lot of the talking.
9. Introduction spiel
Also good to have someone introducing the tour, how it came about, where it's going around the UK etc. - but up to you of course.
Also please do allow time to collect donations for the tour expenses and the Piquetera.
Donations to help with tour expenses can be sent in advance, ask how to email on list.
10. Info on Argentina
The group in London is pulling together some articles on the Argentinian Insurrection that it would be good to make available to people. We'll send it out as soon as it is ready.
We don't have copies of the paper 'Que Se Vayan Todos', but to get more copies write to:
quesevayantodos @ gn.apc.org

Is not coming after all
the venues where I will do the puppet show, I need to have the space two hours ahead of time. if this is not possible, I need to know ahead of time. it is also possible to have a space to set up and then move most of the stuff into the space were the show will be.
hi! i thought i'd work on a collective email with our accomodation preferences and technical needs for the puppet show. i would like that neka and I each have our own private rooms. it is ok if we do not stay in the same house. the tour will be long and i rest a lot better when i'm by myself. i also have some dietary restrictions... i cannot eat wheat, beans, tofu, nor dairy. we are not vegetarians. as for the puppet show, it fits mostly in any room. there is a backdrop of 14,6 feet by 9 feet that can be made smaller (11 feet) if necessary. i need some space in front of it, approximately 8 feet. i do not require special lights, but the area where i perform should be lighted enough so that people can see it. if the backdrop cannot be stapled to the wall, i will need two volunteers to hold a backdrop throughout the show. the show lasts 45 minutes.
if folks have access to an lcd projector, i have a computer generated slide show with pixs of the argentine insurrection, piquetero microenterprises, children workshops in the piquetero neighborhood, repressions, etc..
i can send high resolution pixs of my puppet show if anybody things they could help with publicity. i can also send low resolution samples of the pixs or to be used in websites...
We think it could be arranged for Belfast, Dublin, Galway, Cork and perhaps Sligo/Limerick/Derry. Folk can put Argies up, and fund raise.
