However in light of IMCUK's involvment in covering the G8 summit responses it should be clear that Scotland is not England, and that the notion of North Britain is often regarded as both old fashioned and even reactionary. In some parts of Scotland there has been a deep divide between unionists and republicans, though never quite as intense as in Northern Ireland. Flaunting unionist politics, even unconsciously, can spark of quite a negative reaction in certain circumstances.
