BOUNDARIES TO BRIDGES TOUR 2003 - 2004
A group of Europe based activists gathered from Europe and North Africa will be gathering in Almeria (Spain) in October 2003 from where a caravan will move to St. Louis (Senegal) via Sevilla (Spain), Ceuta and possibly the SETI camp (Morrocco), Larache(Morrocco), The Sahara, Mauritania and finally Senegal, where the tour is expected to arrive in March 2004.
No Border groups and individuals, artists, scientists, musicians and technicians of all origins will collaborate to launch the multilingual 'Boundaries to Bridges' and generate activities and actions such as:
Cultural Exchange: The Caravan will serve as a platform for talks, workshops, info-exchanges,parties, circus and theatre performances and will also have a mobile cinema showing documentaries and films covering themes of immigration and frontiers. It is open for all to participate. Currently involved are self organized migrant groups from Morrocco and Senegal living in Spain and Morroco,alongside a host of other disparate individuals and groups.
Technological Cooperation: We are aiming for a collaboration with local groups and initiatives to facilitate the exchange of equipment and knowledge in the fields of migration, detention centres and border issues, alternative energy and transportation systems, local sustainability and information technology.
Institute of Nomadology: In each major location the Caravan will organize a congress to discuss perspectives of borders, nomadism, migration, cultural exchanges and future technology. The itinerary for the caravan will be: From the 1st October, Almeria (Andalucia, Spain) until the 17th of October when the tour will arrive in Seville also in Andalucia. After a week of preparations, there will be a festival from 24th to the 26th October and the tour will leave Seville on the 31st October. At the beginning of November, we will go to Ceuta/Septa to the C.E.T.I camp there. In the second half of November, the caravan will go to Larache(Morrocco) between 28th and 30th of November. There will be a festival which will include activist groups from the north of Morrocco (cities like Tangiers, Chauen and Al Hocima) Opinions and ideas are welcome from everyone.
