How to get along with out spending so much money?
If you are registering/paying for the ESF, you can apply for a free travel card. They have 20,000 of them. This will allow you to ride all public transporataion in London (including airports) on friday, saturday, sunday.
Bike is one of the best ways to get around London, if you can borrow one while you are here then you are sorted. Otherwise, bus buses cost £2.50 each day and you can save money by getting a weekly pass. Travelcards that are valid on buses and trains cost more but are obviously more useful. If you are a group you might find you can get by with just one travel card (you will figure out how

You can sometimes buy used travelcards sold illegally outside stations, for less than half price - but normally only in the evening. Old tickets with dates modified with a scapel and pencil are used by some people on the buses.
No need to splash out on food. The Hari Krisnas do free food at 12.30pm in Kentish Town outside the Womens Centre (Crossroads) and other locations at other times. However skipping is best and easy (for example, look in the black bags placed outside Pret Manger at around 4 or 5pm). Come and help skipping and preparing food at the rampart (www.rampart.co.nr) and eat for free.
Bring an old mobile phone (min. i year old, must be unlocked) and buy a sim card in UK. Cards cost ~10 Pounds (16 Euro).
If you use 'virgin mobile' you will get approx. 5 Pounds worth of calls included:

Cards can be bought at virgin record shops, virgin mobile shops adn other mobile shops that seel mobile stuff and some newsagents.
