Welcome to the Galiza IMC new members form.

The integration to new members process in the Indymedia network tries to ensure all local colectives to be autonomous the same time by understanding and agreeing with the common references wich are the basis of our unity. It is necessary that all the people who wants to participate in the Indymedia understands and agrees with our principles and ways of work. The same time, it will be needed a short introduction of the new members to be known by those who are working in the list.

That is the aim of this form. Once covered and sent, your request will arrive to the Galiza IMC mailing list. Based on its contents, it could be necessary a little discussion with you, so it will be necessary to correctly fill your email address. If all goes ok, you will be invited to subscribe the Galiza IMC list.

Introduction to the Indymedia Network

The strength of the IMC as a concept comes directly from its organizational structure; namely, a decentralized network of autonomous collectives whose shared resources allow for the creation of a social and digital infrastructure that is independent of state and market forces.

IMC means Independent Media Center -Centro de Media Independente (CMI)-. IMC are media centers making a direct action of grasroot information based in the individuals turning themselves in independent journalists. Every IMC has an Open Publishing tool, in order to each independent journalist can publish anonymously news and media, and making a criticism labour adding comments to the published news. That is the key participation way in the Indymedia, so please, do not proceed with this form if you have not experienced or used the Open Publishing tool.

It is our intention as a media movement to build out this structure so that, on the one hand, we have local IMC's throughout the world that are autonomous in their decision making while, on the other hand, we are united in a network form of organization that allows for collaboration on a level previously reserved for state and corporate interests. To the extent the network is effective in challenging abusive systems of power is directly related to our ability to create decentralized structures. It is our ability to be flexible and simultaneously united that has proven effective.
