Declaración de Objetivos:
...siendo un documento en constante revisión, algo móvil y transformable, una base de la que partimos y sobre la que podemos añadir y quitar consensuadamente, sujeto al cambio, a las nuevas propuestas, que puedan ir surgiendo por el camino...

EN CONCRETO:

• El principal deseo que nos impulsa es el de propiciar las condiciones necesarias para que se desarrolle el tejido de una trama social poniendo en práctica la idea de devolver a cada individuo su capacidad comunicativa y política, la posibilidad de crear su propia palabra o imagen, y de proyectar a través de ella desde el ámbito local de Canarias hasta el mundo entero (y al revés). Miembros de IMC Canarias han realizado una pieza de vídeo que expresa esta intención (ver videografitti) .

• Este pretende ser un espacio en constante construcción; cada idea que se lanza crece y se proyecta sin límites, como un espejo reflejado en mil espejos. No existen las informaciones rumiadas, cerradas, y con sabor a dinero de lxs expert@s de los grandes medios. Aquí nadie es expert@, todo es compartible y mejorable, todo se puede hablar; nuestro abono son todas las voces y, sobre todo, todos los oídos. Frente a la libertad de expresión del manicomio, en la que te dejan hablar pero se aseguran de que nadie te escucha; frente a la incomunicación masiva de la voz única del mercado, proponemos un uso social y emancipatorio de los medios independientes, abiertos y libres que tenemos a nuestro alcance.

• Invitamos a todxs a participar, a compartir nuestras ganas y nuestro trabajo, a sentarse alrededor del fuego en el que calentamos la sociedad de mañana. Nuestros principios son los de igualdad, y no-discriminación por ninguna "razón" como la raza, el género, la edad, discapacidad o cualquier otra 'categoría' social. Lo único que no aceptamos son los prejuicios y los malos valores del Poder. Cualquier aportación es bienvenida; las ideas pequeñas tienen aquí la costumbre rebelde de crecer y crecer; nadie pone límites a lo grandes que se hacen, nadie les raciona la cantidad de energía que pueden recibir.

• Nuestro trabajo se realizará sin traicionar su vocación de ser compartido. Para ello no habrá decisiones únicas y conclusas. No habrá príncipes ni princesas. Evitaremos los malos olores de la burocracia. No habrá responsables individuales, todxs somos responsables. No nos vendemos, ni alquilamos ni arrendamos; nuestros objetivos son antieconómicos. No habrá culpables ni verdugos, sólo cómplices. No existirá la información reservada ¿qué hay que no podamos decir y qué que no podamos escuchar? Aunque no se oigan nuestras voces vivas y no nos veamos los ojos brillantes ésto es una asamblea, una asamblea flotante, “sin los pies en la tierra pero con las raíces bien profundas" . Así nuestros principios son los de organización colectiva, autogestionada, no jerárquica, de toma de decisiones por consenso y de desarrollo y aplicación de una política editorial y de administración en un proceso directo, participativo, antiautoritario y horizontal que sea transparente ante todxs lxs del colectivo.

• La desmercantilización de la información, y de la comunicación social, de la palabra y el imaginario colectivo es uno de nuestros horizontes: nuestro trabajo se basará exclusivamente en el trabajo vivo de los voluntarios que participen en el colectivo, sin subvenciones u otros intereses económicos y sin ánimo de lucro.

• Finalmente, es nuestra meta formar parte de la red global Indymedia, aceptando como propios los principios de unidad y de organización que viene empleando desde sus inicios, proporcionando a esta encrucijada de mundos (África, Europa, América) que es el Archipiélago Canario un medio en el que reflejar y amplificar los procesos de lucha, resistencia y creación de alternativas que emanan desde los distintos sectores de la sociedad organizada; dando el altavoz, la cámara, el micro, el lápiz y el papel para, desde la descentralización, autonomía y apoyo mutuo avanzar en la construcción colectiva del mundo que llevamos en nuestros corazones: ese que está creciendo en estos instantes: Un mundo donde caben muchos mundos.

CONCRETELY:

• We are motivated in the first place by the desire to help promote the conditions necessary for the development of a social fabric in which to practice the devolution to each individual of his or her communicative and political capacity, the capacity to create his or her own word or image, and to express her or himself by this means both within the reality of Canarias and out to the whole world (and vice-versa). Members of IMC-Canarias have produced a short video which seeks to express this aim (see videografitti) .

• This is intended to be a space under continual construction. Each idea which takes wing can grow and will be able to project itself without limits, like a mirror reflected in a thousand mirrors. There will be no information that is simply regurgitated, closed in upon itself, smelling of money in the style of the 'professionals' of the mainstream media. Here there are no experts; everything is to be shared and can be improved upon, anything may be discussed: we find ourselves fertilized by our collective voices and, above all, all possible ears. In the face of the 'freedom of expression' of the madhouse, in which one may be allowed to speak but they try to make damn sure no one is listening, in the face of the mass incommunication of the market's single voice, we propose a social and emancipatory use of the free, open, independent media we find within our reach.

• We invite all to participate, to share our enthusiasm and our work, to sit around the camp fires which are warming the society of tomorrow. Our principles are those of equality and non-discrimination for any 'reason' such as race, sex, age, 'disability' or any such social 'category'. What we do not accept are prejudices or negative values of Power. Any contribution is welcome: small ideas will find here the rebellious tendency to grow and grow; no one will attempt to limit the dimensions they may attain; no one will ration the quantity of energy they may receive.

• Our work will be undertaken without betraying its vocation to be shared. For this reason there will be no unique and conclusive decisions. There will be no princes nor princesses. We will avoid the bad smells emitted by bureaucracy. There will be no responsible individuals: we are all responsible. We are not for sale, nor are we for leasing nor to rent; our aims are antieconomic. There will be no guilty parties nor anyone to be shamed, there will be only companions. There will be no 'classified information': what is there that we may not say or that we dare not hear? Although sometimes we may not be able to perceive our own living voices nor see reflected in those of others our shining eyes, this is an assembly, a floating assembly, “with our feet off the ground, but deeply planted our roots.” So our principles are those of collective organisation, self-managed, non-hierarchical, of decision-taking by consensus and the application of an editorial and administrative policy through a process that shall be direct, participative, anti-authoritarian and horizontal, and that shall be transparent to all members of the collective.

• The liberation of information, of social communication, of the word and of the collective imagination from market forces is one of our goals: our product will be based exclusively on the freely contributed work of volunteers who participate in the collective, without any kind of subsidy or other economic renumeration or profit.

• Finally, it is our intention to form part of the global Indymedia network, accepting as our own the principles of unity and organization that have been applied from their beginning, providing this crossroads of worlds (Africa, Europe, the Americas) that is the Canary Archipielago with a medium through which to reflect and to amplify the processes of struggle, resistance and creation of alternatives which emanate from the different sectors of organized society; making available the loudspeaker, camera, microphone, the pencil and paper with which to advance in the collective construction, through decentralisation, autonomy and mutual aid, of the world we carry in our hearts: that which right now we can see germinating: A world in which there is room for many worlds.
