Kurzer Überblick / Zusammenfassung

Es gibt einen Antrag auf den globalen Listen die POU nicht nur als loses Selbstverständnis zu integrieren, sondern als festen Bestandteil und quasi Gesetz für alle IMCs.
Zur Zeit "muss" jedes neue IMC den POU zustimmen um akzeptiert zu werden. Zu Zeiten als die ersten IMCs gegründet wurden, gab es diesen Zustimmungszwang noch nicht.

Wichtige Information:
Als sich IMC Germany gegründet hat, gab es die POU noch nicht!. Daher sollte es in unserem Interesse sein, die einzelnen Punkte der POU nochmal durchzusprechen. Ich finde dies eine gradezu essentielle Notwendigkeit!

Allgemein

• What would be gained by making them "official"?
• How collectives work is up to the collectives themselves. (The PoU are only guidelines.)
• The form of the document (PoU) is unclear. The current version has several ambiguities (sections 3,4,7).
• What is the definition of the word "official"?
• When new IMC's 'accept' them at the moment, are they accepting them as rules? or guidelines?
• Making the PoU 'official' would 'enforce' the rules to all volunteers
• Making the PoU 'official' would 'attack' the 'autonomy' of local collectives

Speziell

• §9 (All IMC's shall be committed to the use of free source code)
  • not very clear worded
  • many IMCs use Windows and Apple workstations ect.
  • where is the relevance to indymedia (a free publish independent news network)
  • the "whenever possible" clause in article 9 should be clarified
