Calling all radical radiosters
What possibilities are open by new technologies for radio distribution? How can you take advantage of them? Sharing content online is becoming easier by the day. How can we use this to create collaborative networks for audio production? A regional streaming channel? Peer to peer networks? Local radio distributed and compiled to create regional programming. Micro radio? Getting your stuff out there.
Video
Increased bandwidth and faster computers are making high quality online video more of a reality everyday. What are the possibilities for distribution online? Licensing and the Creative Commons project. How do compression and uploading work? How can these tools be used to distribute content and get it off the net? Micro_transmitters, screenings, VCDs, Oceania indymedia newsreal and regional online video makers network. What are the possibilities? Peer to Peer networks and regional servers to host content? Linking up with other video projects.

Witness the Fitness
Why do we work as activist media makers? At some level, the answer has to be 'to change the way things are' - to disrupt the status quo in anything from a minor to a major way. Within the framework of social change, what is the role of the journalist, the media maker, and of the witness? When more often than not telling the truth is not enough to create change, where is there left for media makers go? How do we create media that actually initiates or furthers social change?
syndication/distribution
Audiences are becoming increasingly fragmented, and both the methods and technologies of 'getting the information out there' have multiplied and diverged. Where is the 'mass' that mass media once tried to speak to? What are these various technologies and methods, how do they relate and create (?) their various audiences, and how can we as grass-roots media makers utilise them together to maximum effect? How can new techniques compliment old ones and what forms of collaborative story-telling are possible in building a media commons?
- video online and getting it off : new global vision, beyond tv, oceania newsreal, screenings.
- peer to peer networks, rss syndication, free software and share-alike.
- meshing - net-art, audio streams/local broadcasts, indy blogs project, terrestial/virtual media, PIMP, project presentations
- beyond copy-right or left - The new media commons is already under construction - what affects do the increasing ease of transfering media have for authorship, ownership and sharing content. Creative Commons project, licensing.
