There were a bunch of us in the #oceania channel, so we had a meeting

Summary

We mainly talked about the conference:

• organisation so far:
  • dates 16-18 July
  • probably using IRENE
• jong/manila/fundraising:
  • new quote of $1022.16 (manila-melb return)
  • will need to do all the fundraising ourselves
  • can use the sos name tho
  • will be coming to melb from japan
    • visiting his parents
    • fare japan-melb possibly slightly cheaper than manila-melb
  • perthies can get in on sos fundage
  • darwin imc ppl coming - train darwin-adelaide-melb - bit of a mission
  • sos rego is about $150, mimc ppl will try to get internationals in for free
  • not sure how qc, adelaide, tassie, east coasters will get there
• accomodation
  • some people volunteered billeting
  • possibly sleeping some at irene
  • squats - pred sez under the Como Hotel resort
• mimc energy/organisers
  • 3 people at last meeting (varies 3-8 people)
  • reasonable energy, bit diffuse
  • and back in april
  • finn may arrive a coupla weeks early
• events
  • 1-2 worksops at sos
  • a public meeting
  • indy newsreal event
  • informal workshops/meetings for ind ppl
• misc
  • need to capitalise on sos for outreach stuff
  • use the wiki for organising, so people can see where the conf is at
  • brain_fear has old puter for pred's hw workshop
  • irene has broadband net conn, some extra hubs needed (bf has 2)
