During the meeting on 4th of October, IMC Vienna formally decided to approve the "ImcNantesPrinciples of Unity" of the indymedia network.

We would like to make the following comments to this document:

In our Mission Statement as well as in our Editorial Policy we have included the basic principles of the indymedia network. IMC Vienna is a non-profit group that wants to "encourage a more emancipatory handling of information and media." (IMC Vienna, Mission Statement). We see Open Posting as an opportunity to overcome the roles of media consumers - to become media activists. We will try to develope a non-hierarchical working athmosphere based on consensus and plan to introduce people to new workfields and try to solve technical barriers together. And we try to overcome gendered work division through supporting the women in our collective. Furthermore we want to state that we strongly favour to include the paragraphes 3 and 7 to the list of generally approved principles. IMC Vienna will respect the right of activists to anonymity and therefore respect the right of activists who choose not be photographed or filmed.
