earlier IMC coordinated coverage

hypotheses about why coverage failed

Despite efforts by a few people to try to collect together reports on the many and diverse 2004 No Border actions, so far (as of 18 Aug 2004), they seem to have more or less failed. Here are some hypotheses why:
  • People going on the actions underestimate the usefulness of sending text and/or photo reports for motivating others, showing how practical anti-racist actions are happening.
  • Or, maybe people on the actions are filing reports, but do underestimate the importance of collecting these together.
  • Or, maybe people are publishing reports on actions and want to collect them together, but the contact between them and their local IMCs and the imc-europe mailing list failed to show them one very participative, non-hierarchical, transparent method (this wiki page).
  • security - maybe the people on the actions are worried about their security - after all, racism (keeping out the "orientals" and the "dark fellas") is a fundamental building block of the European Union and the authorities get scared shitless by most anti-border actions
  • priority on local interactions - maybe it's just a lack of time, the activists are focussing on getting to know the locals, listening to them, explaining, learning, and so just haven't got around to the global side of global-local activism...

no border actions - coordinating IMC coverage

There seem to be a lot of no border actions happening this summer (last few summers too), and in previous summers, it seems that many reports were not collected together. If we can collect the info together, we may discover that the amplitude of no border actions is bigger than any of the individual affinity groups realised...

So please add URLS, add other useful info, rewrite and reorganise this page after it starts becoming really messy - please tidy it up (without losing useful info)!
