Pieter and I have just brainstormed about what Themes we could include as
the Message of the Caravan and what the different objectives with the
project are. We were supposed to write a Project Plan / Description, which
is to be used for outreach and fundraising. This brainstorm is the first
step towards this, now we need some FEEDBACK on these ideas. As soon as
possible, preferably even before the NEXT MEETING (Sunday, November 21).
/ Shine St Anne
Ideas for Themes:
- Climate thatıs why we are taking the train (and bus when necessary)
- Land use ( & Agriculture) .. or more like, Land use and transport.
We are taking train and not bus all the way, because we would be driving on
highways and extended road projects.
- How do people cope with environmental degradation in the different regions
and cultures we will encounter (sort of a red thread of environmental
problems and solutions along the route)
- Creative resistance (samba, traditional and regional music, carnival
colours etc)
- Gender
- (No border if people are interested, it is a Very Related Topic)
- Travel versus Teleportation; What is the experience of travelling to far
distant places by land, where you follow and experience the countries and
cultures in between, in todayıs world where many people travel mostly by
flight.
- Civil disobedience, but with a milder formulation
Political Objectives :
To get to Nepal using methods which minimise any environmental impact
To meet and organise together with groups in the countries/regions we pass
To do public outreach and raise awareness of the different issues we are
presenting
To raise awareness through the global media about the need to tackle these
issues
To make a statement about different needs for political and lifestyle
changes in order to tackle these issues
Structural Objectives :
To reach the PGA Global conference in Nepal (in time)
To prepare our participation in the conference, including a discussion about
the dominance within PGA by European and American organisations and groups.
