BE THE MEDIA !!!
Last year over 2 million citizens submitted comments
to the Federal Communications Commission when they
voted to remove the few remaining restrictions on
media ownership concentration. One thing is clear,
people's needs are not being met by the current
corporate dominated media system. Community based
media is the antidote to the current system that
exists to serve the needs of advertisers &
shareholders over the needs of citizen consumers.
Philadelphia is a hotbed of community media activism
with groups working on national policy reform, as well
as the transformation of the local media landscape.
