PhillyIMC Structure
This is the internal structure of PhillyIMC. The purpose of this is to make decision-making more transparent, assign responsibility to tasks, and make it easier for new people to get involved.
Point Persons and Section Editors
Each Team (Internal Working Groups and Coverage Teams), with the exception of webeditorial, will have a team leader, known as a Point Person or Section Editor. The Point Person or Section Editor is the person for whom the ultimate responsibility for carrying out the tasks of the Team falls. The Point Person or Section Editor is the point guard / facilitator. Making sure new people get plugged in and that team members are getting involved.
Membership
Many IMCs have levels of participation as requirements for membership. See
Rights and Responsibilities. This is a way to make sure that people stay active and new people get engaged.
It is proposed that membership with PhillyIMC requires a Volunteer Orientation (to be created) and the joining of one or more of the teams as a member. Members who don't participate in their teams over a two month period should be either encouraged to participate or take a break or something by the Team Leader or other Team Members.
Appointment of Point Persons and Section Editors
Leaders are elected annually at a monthly meeting. An election must be announced before the meeting. Members can vote. Members who can't make the meeting can vote by proxy.
Some teams may have more than one leader.
Some teams may have no Leaders. This is an outreach opportunity! It is proposed that people only agree to be Team Leaders if they can meet all of the commitments.
