Core papers…
Print.indymedia.org
Institutional memory… what type of feedback …
Jenky .. Propose to have a central print wiki…
A good way to operate.
[so you don’t have to go to all the different web-sites]
Mark had a concerns about being totally public with the how-to’s [and raised the dilemma] and would only share tools, methods with indymedia editors (and very similar groups e.g. Critical moment, the [Austin] Issue, etc.)
Question of institutionalize … get out to new publications…
Have a network and a place to put questions…
Suggestion on a yearly anthology of the best articles like the anthology of the best zine articles (that Clamor does)
Zine writing - like news writing….
To what degree will we use the material [from each other’s papers]?
Will will use a lot of material, that has good
Getting content for the paper, give others …
John,,,, but maybe it is going to be occasional random reprints… [so we might just send them]
In 2000 there was a Global pdf… that was sent around a combo of stories from around the world,
[We could do a front and back pdf…
Digest…a simple project… can give people a chance to
Break out of Indymedia US to have a pdf
This is also usable for the indymedia groups that are small or under-capacity.
How to… reach out the other guys…
Print.lndymedia.org a tool for something
Mark (this was my last comment to the group before leaving – a long run on sentence so I will just do the main points and make some clarifications) The people in the Spark project are interested in doing a national newspaper – I think we have the strength, skills and people to do it in the Indymedia network. As I said earlier, we can help the smaller newer print projects by giving the PDFs (or Quarks) of the World section and the generic (non-Washington, DC) parts of the You section (arts, culture, D-I-Y) and print collectives can trade out the ads and and in other ads. I think that we can develop [and actually we are developing] the way to against the big papers, W.Post & NYTimes in terms of becoming trusted as a news source, and USA today as far as distribution.
Thanks all,
I am glad I met all the Printista’s in Austin.
