Planned Actions/Demos/Meetings

• 9th july: Stop Bush Coalition meeting, 7pm, University of Technology Sydney Student Union
• 8th September: Rally at Sydney Town Hall, 10am

Propaganda

Waz> I'm planning on showing some videos on King st Newtown in the lead up to the rally to hopefully motivate some more peoples to come. Will use a laptop and add subtitle files to present details of the rally while the video is running.

Status : Will head up for an hour or so on Wednesday - going to loop the 'starfuckers' video and add subtitles with rally info on a 17" LCD and a small sound system - better than nothing. Here's the draft for my flyer:

Some Information on APEC Demonstrations

What demonstrations are occurring over the APEC weekend?

Ghost Dance a free form, street theatre, a dance party in the Park, a time and a place for the expression of creative dissent Friday 5pm - 11pm 7 Sept North Hyde Park

Stop Bush Rally Saturday 10am Sat 8th Townhall march to Hyde Park

Will the demonstrations be peaceful?

• Ghost Dance - Peacebus.com is well known to senior police in NSW and it has a long record of peaceful protest. The Ghost Dance has been negotiated with the APEC police command. It is agreed that we may assemble in Hyde Park but that we must not leave the park on any sort of procession or march.

• Stop Bush Rally - At the time of preparing this flyer, the march route has not been negotiated with police, though the route has been announced (and reaffirmed) since 8 Aug 2007. The police have suggested an alternate route where far less people will see the march, this route has not been adopted by the stop bush collective. The stop bush collective have explicitly chosen to promote the march as peaceful. This was also a condition of official support from some parties such as the greens.

Can I be arrested for attending a demonstration

• You can only be arrested if you break the law. You can lawfully enter the CBD. Law enforcement officers have additional powers over the APEC period. You may be arrested if an officer gives you a reasonable direction (and you hear it) and do not take this direction. There are additional items that you can not take into the CBD such as poles longer than 1m, spray paint, chains and handcuffs.
