How to create Static Pages
Static pages for example
http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/static/help.html or
http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/cambridge/static/about_us.html are created in a smiliar way to articles.
Step-by-Step
As ever working from the
Start Page
Click in the
Add/Edit box on the
> new article link.
This time set...
Article Type
This time set it to 'Static' or 'Regional Static'
- 'Static' pages appear at /en/static/_context_.html
- 'Regional Static' pages appear at /en/regions/_region_/static/_context_.html
Context Title
Set this to the name of the page required
without .html
Example:
http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/cambridge/static/about_us.html
has the
context title of:
about_us
Common Pages that regions will set up are editorial, mission, about_us, contact, help, support_us
Tick Boxes: Region
If this is to be a regional static page tick the region that pages will apply to eg cambridge
Other Options
Use the rest of the form as you would a
Feature for example tick HTML if you will use HTML mark up put you text in content box.
Note text in abstract box will not be shown
Finished
Press:
publish / save
Browsing Static Pages
To see other static examples in start page of admin web interface click in the
Articles box click on
Static or
Regional Static links.
You will notice you can
Edit, but
Preview doesn't work. This is because the link goes to where the
article would be, not to the static
context.html page.
This was covered briefly in the
Regional Pages Setup HOWTO
as point 10.
