IRC Meeting held on 24th Jan 2005
An IRC meeting held to discuss the
ImcUkGatheringSpring2005.
Notes
We looked at how the meeting was structured in Sheffield, - intro's -
big meeting - smaller meetings - smaller meetings report back to big
meeting. This one will be based on that dynamic but with differences- go
on reading
Bristol people have provisionally booked in an evening of
films, djs etc at a local cinema. This would help cover costs.
Suggestion to have this at 9pm. Dinner at 7 - 8pm?
Generally agreed that will not have too much time for workshops in the
sense of training sessions, with all the things that we intend to cover.
We saw mainly three blocks of themes to discuss: g8, network, mir.
Draft of what will be talked in each meeting to come, however these
themes were suggested for each:
G8
see
ImcUkG8
Mir
- Server to replace kosmos
- editorial guidlines and anti-abuse stuff
- imc-uk-features policies
- evaluation of the latest improvements
Other stuff
Ahimsa seizure and its wider political implications. Whether to move thing on, or press with a campaign, etc... server/ legal structures (for future contracts).
Parallel Sessions
The g8 and the mir will be two parallel sessions, then later in the
evening there are reports back to the plenary – this is Saturday. Then
Sunday morning there can be slots for seizure and wider network issues
Plan for the meeting
Saturday morning
plennary: intro and final revision of the agenda/program
after intro, break down: g8 stuff & mir stuff sub-meetings run in parallel.
suggest to give g8 + mir 3 hours, then 1 hour for feedback?
Sunday morning
"wider network issues" and then a plennary again.
To note that, from experience, you don't really count on "sunday pm" as
people start leaving early. Also to note that this meeting was not that
weel attended, and this network gathering is in less than 2 months time.
Please come to next one!
Next IRC Meeting
Next meeting on irc will be next Sunday 31st January 2005 (5pm- 6pm to check all documentation is as agreed/ discuss it further.
