IMC-UK Network Account

Overview

The IMC-UK network bank account is a "Social Venture Current Account" with Triodos, one of the few banks that seem to be more serious about 'ethical banking'. There are four signatories: AnarchoBabe from Scotland [intro], AndiE from London [intro], mish from Cambridge and SevenR from Sheffield [intro]. The bank statements are at the moment sent to AndiE [London], and are uploaded onto this twiki - simply click the link in the monthly total in the Account Breakdown section below.

For a signatory to take money out of the network account the amount and the reason needs to be proposed to the uk-process list. If no one has objected, a signatory can write out a check (proposal). To draw money out of the account any two signatures are required. For a new signatory to be added, and for a signatory to resign or to be removed, two signatories have to sign a changeofsigs_form.pdf .

Account Breakdown

In August 2004 a debate started on the uk-tech list on colocating and fundraising [mails 1 | 2 | 3]. When the FBI in October raided the main mirror of the UK, the need for a funding drive for servers became apparent and a server appeal was launched.

Since April 2007 the account breakdown is split into "General", "G8 debt", and three server instances:

• the column "General" shows the money that is available for non-specified purposes
• the column "G8 debt" shows the money that has been spent for G8 purposes and is still owed to the server hardware fund; any incoming donations that are not declared to be for server purposes will be used to reduce this debt; once cleared, undeclared donations will be counted for general purposes
• the column "SVR-HW" shows the available cash in the server fund for server hardware
• the column "SVR-TR" shows the balance of running costs for the traven server, starting with a payment of the Jan-Jun 2007 costs on 1 May 07: this has been paid from the 4 tenners a month that had come in in May, and the rest was taken from the hardware fund as all traven donations in 2007 had gone in there
• the column "SVR-UK" shows the balance of running costs for the UK server
• The small monthly donations (standing orders for the server fund) are now split between the UK server and traven - the scanned statements have the respective destination added next to the amount
• The costs for incoming server donations are deducted from their respective running cost balances
