Welcome to the Indymedia chat translation page.
There are several parts to the task of translating
http://chat.indymedia.org. Firstly the five pages: welcome, help, channels, security, and translate should be translated. This is done using the wiki (instructions below). The next step is to download some html files and translate them into your language of choice (details below). The last of the translations is the translation of the Java applet. At some point in the future the HTML interface (
cgiirc) will also need translating. When you or your group have finished one or more of the tasks below, please contact the
ircd working group so that we can enable your language in the configuration.
Welcome, Help, Channels, Security, Translate
First,
edit this page (try username 'Guest' and password 'guest') and add a link to your new translation in the list below. Use the
official 2 letter ISO 639-1 code to replace 'en' and 'En' in the list below. Then save the page and you should see a highlighted question mark after your added entry. Click on the question mark to create your new page and type in your translation. Please edit all the other translations and add links to your translation. Once your translation has been added by the
ircd working group it will be instantly available on
http://chat.indymedia.org. Updates to your translation will be copied once every 24 hours.
Search for
all translations.
HTML templates
Download the following files and translate them, replacing 'en' in the filename with your language code. Place them all in a zip, rar or tar file and
attach them to this page. Please tell the
ircd working group when you have uploaded the file. Some of these require no translation, just ignore them.
Java applet
This is similar to the HTML templates step, except there are fewer files to translate and many common languages are already translated. If your language is listed below, it has already been done. If you find a bad or inconsistent translation please tell the
ircd working group about an alternative and we will change it.

Everything below the line will not show up on
http://chat.indymedia.org. Please do not remove it, or else parts of the page will be hidden. Please use it to add comments or add files etc. Note that chat.indy is cached and is currently only refreshed from these pages every 24 hours. People with access to the server can delete files in che:/var/www/irc/cache to make the pages refresh the next time someone visits chat.indy.
