Welcome to the Indymedia Documentation Project

In June 2012 self-registration on the Indymedia Documentation Project ( was closed to allow the maintainers to take some actions:

  • Fix SPAM issues.

  • Set up an SSL certificate that will enhance the browsing experience by not raising the SSL certificate warnings on most web browsers. We should not forget, though, that hierarchical corporate business based certification, as included in most web browsers by default, is not the best way to trust a website. Instead, there is the option of furthering inter-activist trust paths by signing keys ourselves and validating these signatures when we come across them.
  • For now, as the site is currently working only with SSL encrypted connections (https, if you look in the url), people will have to either add the CACert root certificate or add SSL exceptions to their browsers to be able to access the site, as you probably did, as you are reading this message right now (and that means you can help other people do the same!).

Because we were forced to close self-service registrations, for now, if you would like a new user account to edit the site, contact us on our mailing list docs (at) with info on your IMC affiliation and ask for an account. We will try to respond in a timely fashion. is the site where Independent Media Center volunteers work together on projects and documentation concerning Indymedia. "Wiki" makes editing web pages very easy - you don't need to understand computer codes. WelcomeGuest explains how to use this Wiki (or "FosWiki") site.

This site is arranged into different 'web's. A web holds information related to a certain topic. Currently, you are in the Main web, which holds information used for information about individuals and groups .

The different webs
