Questions for the Global Features Survey 2004

return to features survey main page.

Introduction

This page contains questions, formulated in emails, to be distributed as part of the IMC Global Features Survey 2004. Two slightly different versions have been formulated: one email to be sent to individuals already subscribed to the www-features mailing list; the second email to be sent to the different IMCs that form the indymedia network.

Introductory text

hello!

The Indymedia Global Features List has been discussing some important issues recently and we would value your input. These issues are particularly related to language and the content of the global indymedia website the www-features list, local involvement, and the tasks of the global features team. since the transition to Mir last year, but also cover some wider organisational issues and feedback in general. Consequently, we would be grateful if you could answer the following questions before the 9th of May: your answers will help guide how the global website looks and is run in the future. These questions posed are an attempt to determine the diversity and future direction of both the global features team and www.indy.

Every subscriber to this list is strongly encouraged to participate in the survey. The timetable for the survey can be found at: http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Global/FeaturesSurvey2004Questions and it will be presumed that those not responding to the survey no longer wish to be part of the www-features collective. Consequently, if you do not respond by May 9th, you will be unsubscribed from the list. You may, of course, re-subscribe at any time. Everyone on this list is encouraged to answer the questions and send the answers back to txinsurrection (at) riseup.net (unsure of Blackbeards email addy) to be compiled and documented. After some weeks, the list admin will remove all that did not respond, and see where we are at...you can always resubscribe in the future, if we had just not offered enough time to respond.

Questions for individuals

  • What is your location?
  • Which local IMC are you from?
  • Are you a global liaision between this list and your local IMC?
  • If so, how do you provide feedback?
  • Are you on any other global lists? e.g. imc-process, imc-tech, etc
  • What is your first language?
  • Do you speak/read/write any other languages? How well/how confident are you?
  • Do you, or does someone in your local collective, have admin access to the global website (i.e. can you post and edit features)?
  • How well do you know html?
  • What language do you think the global website should appear in?
  • How many - and which - languages do you think should appear on the global website?
  • How could www.indy better reflect the vast languages of the world?
  • Which language(s) do you think this list should appear in?
  • Do you think there should be different lists for different languages? Gor example, www-features-italiano, www-features-espanol, www-features-francais, etc. How could this list be improved to increase participation from under-represented imc's?
  • How do you see the role of the global website? For example, as an openposting resource in its own right, or as a portal to local indymedia sites?
  • What changes would you like to see to the global website?

  • Do you have any other comments you wish to make?
