summary: an explanation about biotechimc.org [en/es]

(please forward also to the oceania-list, i can't find the mail-address)

-----------------------------

Dear all,
as you might have seen by now, some volunteers from different IMCs around
the world are working on an idea for a topic page on biotechnology, and the
site is currently used to cover the Sacramento WTO meeting.

Of course it would have been better to go through the new-imc procedure
first, but because of the challenge to get an global group of volunteers
together, to get the basis of our work outlined and the need to develop
some software to show what we want to do in terms of mulitlinguality and
syndication, it all took longer then expected.

We know that there will be (hopefully constructive) criticism on the
concept, and therefore we wanted everything as clear as possible before
announcing it officially. Then however, suddenly there was Sacramento and
the idea to use this site instead of making a topic page on one or several
local IMCs like Portland, and here we are....

(Of course, all the rather aggressive communication especially on
imc-process in the last months also made it more difficult to come with an
controversial proposal. But hopefully we are past that.)

So please see www.biotechimc.org as the site to cover Sacramento for the
moment, and we'll be up to the new-imc procedure and discussions with the
rest of the Indymedia network afterwards.

In solidariy,
Clara

PS. We need translators for the articles, but most www-translation lists
seem not to be active anymore, so it would be great if this could be
pointed out to local translation lists as well.

---------------------------

Querid*s tod*s:
