Here's a site logo based on the original UK Indymedia one. It's a transparent gif. It has the same dimensions as the original and the same spacing between the sides (margins or padding). It also has the same name. In theory it should be possible to simply overwrite the existing gif with this one.

However it's worth noting that UK site seems to have an odd way of coding the header section. It's made up of two CSS background images (this one and the red, repeating strip) but both are stretched, presumably with CSS, so they display slightly bigger than they are. Not sure why it's done this way but this presumably whatever code stretches those should stretch this image too.

This image also has a red matt (the fringe joining the transparent to the opaque parts of the image) to fit with the existing red background.
