Rough summary: please correct this if you think it's inaccurate: A group asked to create IMC Zimbabwe and asked if the domain name could be created urgently (because of the dangerous conditions etc and urgency, they said they didn't have time to actually sit down and think about all of their organising and come to consensus about decision-making procedures etc.) and partly because of "pressure" about the danger of the situation and the urgency, e.g. zimimc anon Mon Feb 25 22:52:02 PST 2002, miketivist Wed Feb 27 05:43:02 PST 2002, kevin Thu Feb 28 05:36:33 PST 2002 it was agreed to create the domain name to point to point to the initial web site, on the understanding that the group was not yet officially IMC Zimbabwe and was still expected to go through proper, autonomous, transparent organising with a wide variety of grassroots groups.
