the general impression is that there are enough people interested, but we need a committed group of at least 5 people who are willing to organize it as a core group
send out an SOS mail about this: "no organizers, no meeting"
where: easy visa, cheap transport and low cost of living, accessible by car/bus to transport kitchen and other equipment, and not too high temperatures, Vis still sounds like a good option, but is unclear whether they will still have the space. If we go for camping we will need a kitchen group like Rampenplan. Other possible countries: Spain, (Turkey). We need to check on visa regualtions, Blue might have already looked into that.
when: fitting in with other dates
funding needed for travel expences: journalist organisations like IFEX, reporters without borders, press now, and national journalist unions might be an option.
a five-day event (like tuesday evening to sunday morning) with working, groups, skill sharing, discussions and screenings wednesday-friday, bigger discussion to round it of on Saturday, a big party on saturday.
no big plenary sessions, but working groups where we can actually work together to develop some things further (translation/dispatch/imc europe etc), discussions where we can discuss basic issues (like how indymedia is developing further, ethics of reporting etc), and skillsharing workshops (video, setting up streams, feature writing etc), as well as space for realted issues (like open source software for windows users, the ethics of reporting, a discussion with the kitchen group about being "service" to other policital groups etc), and with enough space and timer for smaller/spontanous meetings
