Inglis Information

Background

Due to an incredibly high load on Stallman, imc-tech purchased Inglis in the Spring of 2002 to be a dedicated database server. It is connected directly to Stallman and runs postgres. Inglis is named after Agnes Inglis, http://www.spunk.org/agnes.html and/or http://www.libr.org/PL/16_Herrada.html

Inglis is running a 2.4 kernel because there is not backported support for dual tyan motherboards in the 2.2 kernels. This goes against our reliance on stable, tested, production capable kernels, but it was not known until after the machine was purchased.

Pictures of the machine are here: http://stallman.indymedia.org/tech2/local/inglis/index.html

If you suspect there is a problem with inglis, check out the server status page ServerStatus and see if it is noted. People from imc-tech maintain the server. Questions or concerns about inglis can be sent to imc-sysadmin@lists.indymedia.org
